New Haven, Conn. – January 18, 2025 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics team produced a season-best team score of 185.225 and took fourth place in a quad meet hosted by Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon.
The University of Bridgeport won the meet with a score of 193.225 and was followed by Brown (193.125), Southern Connecticut (190.325) and Springfield (185.225).
Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) paced Springfield with a first place finish on the balance beam with a score of 9.825. She also produced a score of 8.500 on the uneven bars to finish her day.
In the All-Around competition,
Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) registered a third place finish with a score of 35.775. Kaplan scored 9.625 on the floor, 9.525 on the vault, 8.900 on the uneven bars and 7.725 on the balance beam.
Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) was Springfield's top finisher on the vault with a mark of 9.575 and was closely followed by
Delaney LaViolette (Holden, Mass.) and Kaplan with scores of 9.525.
Ayako Maeda (Tokyo, Japan) recorded a top-10 finish on the uneven bars with a score of 9.600, while Kaplan led the Pride on the floor with a score of 9.625. Taylor closely followed Kaplan with a score of 9.600 on the floor.
Springfield will travel to Brown University for a quad meet with Southern Connecticut, the host Bears and Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday at 12:00 pm.
