Women's Swimming and Diving Splits With Wesleyan and Roger Williams

Middletown, Conn. – January 18, 2025 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team split a double dual with Wesleyan University and Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon.

Springfield defeated Roger Williams, 168-126, but fell to Wesleyan, 153.5-147. Springfield's record in dual meets now sits at 4-5 with four duals to go before the NEWMAC Championships.
 
Kay Shen (Hong Kong) individually had one of the best meets of the day for the Pride as she finished first in the 50-free (24.36) and the 100-free (53.57) and also teamed up with Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.)Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) and Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) for first in the 400-free relay (3:43.08).

Lamb also had a great day in the pool with a first place finish in the 200-free (2:00.28) and the 50-breast (30.17) in addition to a runner-up finish in the 50-free (25.38), while Kelaher won the 50-back (28.30) and took second in the 50-fly (26.81) and Norbut took fourth in the 500-free (5:36.73) and fifth in the 200-free (2:04.23).

Maddie Symecko (Plantsville, Conn.) teamed up with Gianna Farina (Easton, Pa.), Shen and Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) for a fourth place finish in the 200-medley relay to start the meet in 1:54.22. Symecko went on to finish second in the 100-back (1:01.14) and third in the 50-back (28.69), while Savoie took third in the 100-fly (1:01.01) and Farina took third in the 100-IM (1:05.25).
 
Paige Levine (Holtsville, N.Y.) rounded out the swimming highlights for the Pride with a runner-up finish in the 1650-free in 19:10.36.

Springfield swept the top three spots in both boards in the diving well. Annabel Culbreth-Loomis (Pelham, Mass.) and Elizabeth Santos (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded NCAA diving regional qualifying scores on both boards with Culbreth-Loomis claiming first in both disciplines.

Culbreth-Loomis recorded a 272.11 on the 1-meter and a 292.50 on the 3-meter, while Santos registered a 260.70 on the 1-meter and a 284.17 on the 3-meter.

Springfield will travel to Smith College for a double dual with the Pioneers and Wellesley College next Saturday at 12:00 pm.
