Williamstown, Mass. – January 4, 2025 – The Springfield College wrestling team sent seven student-athletes to compete at Saturday's Williams College Open as
Nate Spuhler (Shoreham, N.Y.),
Oliver Parker (Pawtucket, R.I.) and
Joe Boyle (Oradell, N.J.) highlighted the action for the Pride.
At 174, Parker finished as the runner-up as he pinned his way through the bracket to the title match. Parker pinned Joey Visciano of Cortland, Max Bluhm of Western New England and Simon Taraska of Norwich before dropping to Elliot Humphries by technical fall, 21-6, in the final match.
Both Boyle and Spuhler fought their way back through the brackets after dropping their first matches of the day. Spuhler finished eighth overall after pinning Fitzgerald Jordan of Western New England, defeting Gabriel Moltymyr of Norwich by decision, 12-7, and pinning Nichalas D'Erasmo of Hunter.
Boyle earned back-to-back pins of Colsten Volpe of Western New England and Nathan Tracy of Springfield Tech before being pinned by Aaron Johnson of Alfred State.
Springfield will travel to Lycoming College for the Budd Whitehill National Duals next Friday and Saturday, January 10-11.
