Springfield, Mass. – November 1, 2025 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team opened its season with a 249-50 setback to No. 4 nationally-ranked MIT on Saturday afternoon inside Art Linkletter Natatorium.
Springfield's 200-medley relay team of
Lizzy McMahon (Rensselaer, N.Y.),
Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.),
Lena Thompson (Bow, N.H.) and
Oliva Schwenger (Beacon Falls, Conn.) began the meet with a time of 1:56.85.
Thompson went on to have the best individual finish on the day as she clocked a time of 56.61 for third in the 100-free. Thompson was matched by
Paige Levine's (Holtsville, N.Y.) third place finish in the 1000-free in 11:54.04, but in every other individual swimming event, MIT finished 1-2-3 this afternoon as they entered the meet as the defending NCAA Division III national champions.
Kylie Nordenstrom (Blaine, Minn.) was Springfield's fastest swimmer in the 200-free in 2:11.39 and the 500-free in 5:41.48, McMahon went on to clock a 1:04.26 in the 100-back and a 2:19.69 in the 200-back, Norbut touched the wall in 1:14.29 in the 100-breast and in 27.34 in the 50-free and
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.)clocked a 2:34.25 in the 200-fly. Van Tassel was the top Pride finisher in the 200-breast in 2:41.90 and the 200-IM in 2:27.37, while Thompson rounded out the individual highlights with a 1:02.91 in the 100-fly.
McMahon, Schwenger, Van Tassel and Thompson combined for a fourth place finish in the 400-free relay in 3:57.78 to wrap up today's meet.
In the diving well,
Bridgette Hogan (Marshfield, Mass.) produced a fourth place finish on the 1-meter board with a score of 237.60, while
Elizabeth Santos (Chicopee, Mass.) recorded a third place finish on the 3-meter board with a score of 245.55.
Springfield will host Coast Guard and Wheaton (MA) in a double dual next Saturday beginning at 11:00 am.
