Henniker, N.H. – November 1, 2025 – The Springfield College wrestling program opened its 2025-26 campaign with a pair of dual meet victories over New England College and Norwich University on Saturday afternoon.
Springfield, now 2-0, defeated New England College, 34-10, and Norwich, 24-17.
New England College jumped out to an early 6-0 advantage following back-to-back wins by decision at 125 and 133 before
Ryan Kozdra (Mahwah, N.J.) put Springfield on the board with four points thanks to a win by major decision, 11-3, at 141. In their first collegiate matches,
Isaac Quiles (East Hartford, Conn.) and
Riley Carlucci (Franklin, Mass.) extended Springfield's lead to 13-6 as Quiles pinned Tanner Kamuda in just 1:38 at 149, while Carlucci edged Andrew Piedrahita, 9-2, at 157.
New England College climbed back within three after a match at 165, but
Gabriel Thomasson earned his first collegiate pin over Dominic DeMaio in 1:52 at the 174 weight class. Springfield won at 184 by forfeit and used a pin by
Oliver Parker (Pawtucket, R.I.) at 197 in just 56-seconds to push ahead 31-10.
Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.) earned a 9-3 win at 285 wrapping up the 34-10 victory.
Jaden Colwell (Lords Valley, Pa.) put Springfield on the board at 133 against Norwich with his 10-7 decision before Kozdra's second major decision of the afternoon at 141 gave the Pride a 7-5 lead. Norwich would ultimately tie the score at 11 after back-to-back decisions at 157 and 165, but a a 16-6 major decision by Thomasson at 174 put Springfield in front for good, 15-11.
Matthew Hoxie pinned Max Fredericks at 184 in 4:18 before
Nick Rogers (Watertown, N.Y.) wrapped up the victory with an overtime decision at 197.
Springfield will travel to New York for the Ithaca Invitational next weekend beginning at 2:30 pm on Friday, November 7.
