Springfield, Mass. – November 13, 2025 – Springfield College senior Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.) has been named as the New England Wrestling Association's (NEWA) Wrestler of the Week after his performance.

Katz, Springfield's 285 pounder, won the Ithaca Invitational over the weekend in New York. Katz defeated Kenya Crawford of Castleton 3-2, and Rory Nolan of Norwich 13-3 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Katz faced off with the #7 Nationally ranked wrestler, Evan Day of Castleton, where he won 8-5 in Sudden Victory. In the finals, Katz won in overtime once again, defeating Kamdyn Dorchester of Ithaca Dec 5-2 TB-1.

Katz currently ranks tenth at 285 pounds nationally by The Open Mat and fourth in the New England region in his weight class.

Springfield will host its first of three mat light dual meets tomorrow evening in Blake Arena as the Pride will welcome crosstown rival Western England University for a 7:00 pm start.
