Springfield women's soccer and Coast Guard since November 4, 2014 when the Pride prevailed over the Bears 3-1 in the quarterfinal round. That has been the lone postseason matchup between the two sides. In 27 previous meetings, Springfield is 25-1-1 against Coast Guard including 14-1-1 on Brock-Affleck Field. In this year's regular season matchup – which also took place in Springfield back on October 8 - a pair of goals from
Meredith Healy (Niantic, Conn.) lifted the Pride over the Bears, 2-1.
Springfield field hockey enters Tuesday's game against Salve Regina following its best regular season since 2018 tying that season's squad for the most overall wins (12) and most conference wins (6). Winners of three straight, Springfield and Salve Regina will meet in the postseason for the first time ever on Tuesday. In this year's regular season matchup – which took place on September 20 in Rhode Island - the Pride picked up its first win against the Seahawks in program history, 3-2, thanks to a pair of goals of
Rachel Simkewicz (Westminster, Mass.) and a tally from
Sarah Goldstein (Cheshire, Conn.), which proved to be the game winner.
Springfield men's soccer and Coast Guard will meet for the second time in less than a week on Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the postseason. The Pride secured their playoff bid following a 1-0 win over the Bears last week thanks to a late goal from
Connor Policarpio (Bristol, Conn.). Tuesday's meeting between Springfield and Coast Guard will be the first postseason match between the two sides since 2013 when the Bears edged the Pride, 2-1, in double overtime – also in the quarterfinal round. In nine postseason meetings between Springfield and Coast Guard, the Pride are 5-3-1 overall and 1-2-1 in New London.
