Oliver Parker Wins at 197 to Highlight Wrestling's Effort at Doug Parker Invite

Springfield, Mass. – November 22, 2025 – Highlighted by a first place finish by Oliver Parker (Pawtucket, R.I.) at 197 pounds, the Springfield College wrestling team finished fourth overall with 102.5 points at Saturday's Doug Parker Invitational inside the Springfield Field House.

Springfield entered the weekend 21st in The Open Mat's Team Dual rankings.

Parker, who was seeded fourth in his weight class, pinned Luke Hutton of Trinity College before earning a 19-3 technical fall over David LaPrade of Williams. Parker then faced Kevin Pandorf of Coast Guard, the top-seed in the bracket and the third ranked wrestler in the region, in the semifinal where he earned an 8-3 decision. A pair of takedowns by Parker in the final lifted him to a 6-3 decision over Christian Curley of Bridgewater State to earn the title.

Esuar Ordonez (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) and Jack Callahan (Tewksbury, Mass.) met in the semifinal round of the 133 pound weight class where Callahan earned an 10-9 decision to advance to the final. Ordonez used a pin and a pair of decisions to reach the semifinal, while Callahan pinned three straight opponents to reach the semifinal. Callahan's run was highlighted by a second period pin over second-seeded Matthew Carrozza of Coast Guard, who came into the meet ranked fourth regionally. Ordonez went on to finish third in the bracket following two overtime victories.

Quiles finished in fourth place at 141 pounds as the fifth seed in his bracket. Quiles earned back-to-back pins before earning a 4-1 overtime win over Dominic Moyer of Coast Guard, who ranked fifth regionally, heading into Saturday. Quiles was clipped, 3-2, in the semifinal, but bounced back for a 21-4 technical fall to reach the third place match.

Ty Stewart (Dracut, Mass.) pinned back-to-back opponents to open his run at 149 pounds, while Gabriel Thomasson (Norton, Mass.) fought all the way back through the consolation bracket to reach the semifinal round with a technical fall and major decision at 165 pounds.

Rounding out the highlights was Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.) who ripped through the 285 pound bracket ultimately finishing in second place. Katz pinned Jon Lettre of Southern Maine before posting back-to-back decisions to reach the championship final. It was Carl DiGiorgio, the region's top wrestler and who is ranked No. 2 in the country at 285, who came out on top with an 11-3 major decision in the final.

Springfield will take a week off before traveling to Pennsylvania for the Petrofes Invitational at Messiah University.
