Bristol, RI – December 13, 2025 – Highlighted by first place finishes at 133 from Alex Oberc (New Milford, Conn.) and at 141 from Ryan Kozdra (Mahwah, N.J.), the Springfield College wrestling team wrapped up the first semester of action at today's Scott Viera Open.

Oberc, the third seed at 133, made his way into the championship bout after a 12-9 sudden victory decision over Jack Francis, an 8-2 decision over Christopher Edel of JWU and a third period pin over Griffin Norwalt. Oberc took on Antonio Intintoli of Western New England and pinned him late in the third to secure the title.

Kozdra was the second seed at 141 and used a pair of pins to reach the semifinal round. In the semifinals, Kozdra earned a 10-0 major decision defeating Nichols Torres of JWU. Then he took on last year's regional champion, Jack Eckerle of JWU and pinned him in 2:13 to seal the win.

After falling in his opening round match, Dan de Almeida (Hudson, Mass.) worked his way through the consolation bracket ultimately finishing fourth at 184. De Almeida used two decisions, a pin and a medical forfeit before falling in the third place match.

Jeremiah Cruz (Springfield, Mass.) picked up a pair of pins at 157 before bowing out of the bracket in the consolation round of four. At 285, Christian Quandt (Millsboro, Del.) made his season debut with a 15-0 technical fall, a first period pin and a 2-1 decision to reach the consolation round of four.

Springfield will return to action in January with a trip to the Budd Whitehill National Duals at Lycoming College beginning on January 9.
