Worcester, Mass. – February 22, 2025 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team recorded a pair of podium finishes on the third day of the 2025 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships held at WPI.
Through three days, Springfield sits in fourth place with 416 points. Ahead of the Pride is MIT (1113), Coast Guard (506) and Wheaton (449).
Nina Lamb (Killingworth, Conn.) highlighted today's action for Springfield as she earned a runner-up finish and a silver medal in the 100-breast with an NCAA "B" cut time of 1:03.00. Meanwhile the 200-medley relay quartet of Lamb,
Maddie Symecko (Plantsville, Conn.),
Erin Kelaher (Tucson, Ariz.) and
Kay Shen (Hong Kong) recorded a third place finish and a bronze medal in 1:45.80.
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) was Springfield's top finisher in the 400-IM as she clocked a 4:42.70 for 12th place shaving 2.28-seconds off her time from prelims this morning.
Erica Kerner (Cherry Hill, N.J.) joined Savoie in the consolation finals tonight finishing 19th in 4:54.76.
Korryn Cartwright (Seekonk, Mass.) and Kelaher represented Springfield in the consolation finals of the 100-fly finishing with times of 1:00.12 and 1:01.16 for 16th place and 20th place, respectively.
Springfield had two student-athletes represented in the championship finals of the 200-free as
Natalie Chamberlin (Ellington, Conn.) finished sixth in 1:55.00, while Shen took seventh in 1:56.12.
Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) swam in the consolation finals and finished 18th in 2:00.70.
Symecko recorded a 58.86 for seventh place in the championship finals of the 100-back to round out tonight's highlights for the Pride.
Springfield will return to the pool tomorrow for the final day of the 2025 NEWMAC Championships with prelims beginning at 10:00 am from WPI. Events contested tomorrow will include the 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast, 200-fly, 1650-free and 3-meter dive.
