Springfield, Mass. – February 22, 2025 – The Springfield College women's track and field team set a pair of new school records at the Triangle Classic held inside the Springfield College Field House on Saturday afternoon. Today's meet was a non-scoring meet.
Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) once again broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles as she clocked a time of 8.85 seconds for first place in the event surpassing her old mark from last week (8.92). Her new time of 8.85 will place her just outside the top-15 in the nation this year.
Meanwhile,
Jillian Scott (Westhampton, Mass.) broke her own school record in the pole vault as today she cleared 3.55-meters surpassing her old mark of 3.45-meters which she set in 2023 – also at the Triangle Classic.
Katelynn Taylor (Franklin, Mass.) produced a first place finish in the shot put with a best toss of 12.32-meters and a third place finish in the weight throw with a best mark of 14.24-meters, while
Hannah Debian (West Springfield, Mass.) placed third in the shot put (11.82-meters) and fourth in the weight throw (13.81-meters).
Samantha Paul (Albany, N.Y.) recorded a third place finish in the triple jump (11.33-meters),
Autumn Bacik (Watertown, Conn.) placed fourth in the high jump (1.56-meters) and
Elizabeth Lewelling (Palmdale, Calif.)placed fifth in the long jump (4.99-meters) to round out the highlights in the field events for the Pride.
On the track,
Julia Brillo (Ludlow, Mass.) produced the best individual finish on the day as she took second in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.05.
Kristina Kyle (Watertown, Conn.),
Elina Olmedo (Wakefield, Mass.) and
Ella Couchon (Windsor Locks, Conn.) registered third place finishes in the 1000-meters (3:08.40), 600-meters (1:40.75) and 200-meter dash (27.01), respectively.
Sofia Aguilar (Norwalk, Conn.) record a fourth place finish in the 60-meter dash (8.10),
Kami Wlodyka (Three Rivers, Mass.) took eighth in the mile in 5:38.13 to round out the individual highlights.
Madison Mulas (Wilmington, Mass.), Brillo,
Maeve D'Arcy (West Hartford, Conn.) and
Natalia Marchand (Hubbardston, Mass.) recorded a second place finish in the 4x400-meter relay to close out the Triangle Classic for the Pride.
Springfield will travel to Boston for the New England Division III Indoor Championships next weekend beginning on Friday at 10:00 am from the Track at New Balance.
