Deguire Secures All-America Honors and 100th Career Win on Day One of NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships

Providence, RI – March 14, 2025 – Springfield College senior Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) and junior Nick Rogers (Watertown, N.Y.) represented the Pride on the national stage at the 2025 NCAA Division III Wrestling National Championships held at the Amica Mutual Pavilion on Friday afternoon.

Deguire led the charge for the Pride going 2-1 on the day not only securing his 100th career win, but he also will be an NCAA All-American for the second time in his career. With two wins, Deguire is guaranteed to finish in the top-8 at 165 pounds this year. Rogers made his debut on the national stage at 174 pounds today.

At 165 pounds, Deguire knocked off eighth seeded Dustin Bohren of Loras in the second round with a third period pin to earn the 99th win of his collegiate career. Deguire went ahead 6-3 after the first period with an escape, takedown and nearfall before a reversal by Bohren made it 6-5 in the second. With eight seconds remaining in the match Deguire used a reversal and put Bohren on his back to advance to the quarterfinal round against top-seeded Matt Lackman of Alvernia.

Deguire fell in the quarterfinal round top-seeded and No. 1 nationally-ranked Matt Lackman of Alvernia University by decision, 4-1. Lackman's four points came from a first period takedown and riding time in the third.

Deguire went into the wrestleback and faced Brian Petry of Cornell College with the winner securing All-America honors this season. It was Deguire who came out on top pinning Petry in just 1:37 to not only earn All-America honors and move on to tomorrow, but to secure the 100th win of his career. Deguire is slated to face Nicholas Sacco of TCNJ tomorrow morning.

At 174 pounds, Rogers faced fourth seeded Hunter Mays of TCNJ in the second round and was edged 10-7 by decision. Mays raced out to a 9-1 lead after one thanks to a pair of takedowns and a nearfall. Rogers fought back with a takedown of his own in the second and the third, but ultimately ran out of time to complete the comeback. Rogers was matched with Cam Hines of Western New England in the wrestleback – a rematch of last weekend's NCAA Regional Championship first place match at Wesleyan.

Rogers' season came to a close in the consolation bracket as he fell to Cam Hines of Western New England University by decision, 6-3. A scoreless first period led to a takedown from Hines before a pair of escapes by Rogers made it 3-2 through two. A reversal sealed Hines' spot in the next round of wrestlebacks against Adam Myers of Ohio Northern, while Rogers finished his year with a record of 22-14.
