Newport, RI – March 30, 2025 – The Springfield College women's tennis team defeated Salve Regina University 7-0 on Sunday afternoon in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
Springfield improved to 5-3 overall and to 1-1 in NEWMAC play, while Salve Regina fell to 4-7, 1-1.
Springfield won all three doubles matchups to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) and
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles before
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) and
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) at No. 2 and
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) and
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) both earned 6-3 wins to cap doubles play.
Vettayawaikoon led the charge for Springfield in singles play winning 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1. She was followed by Manataweewat, who defeated Stephanie Davis, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2, Elliott, who defeated Madigan Murphy, 6-4, 7-6 (5) at No. 3, McGoldrick, who defeated Natalia Vega, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4, Shea, who defeated Elena Murdock, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and Peyon, who defeated Sloane Nelson, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Springfield will travel to UMass Boston for a non-conference match on Thursday at 3:30 pm.
