Boston, Mass. – April 25, 2025 – The Springfield College women's tennis team capped the regular season with a 7-0 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory at Emerson College this afternoon.
Springfield ends the regular season slate with a record of 9-7 overall and 4-4 in NEWMAC play, while Emerson fell to 2-15, 0-8. Springfield will be the fifth seed in next week's NEWMAC Championship Tournament and will travel to Smith College for a quarterfinal matchup on April 29.
Springfield won two of the three doubles matches for a 1-0 lead in the match.
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and
Ramida Manataweewat (Bangkok, Thailand) earned a 6-1 win at No. 1 before
Grace Tyler (Longmeadow, Mass.) and
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) won by a 6-2 final at No. 3.
Springfield went on to win all six points in singles play in straight sets. Vettayawaikoon wont 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 and was followed by Elliott with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2.
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3,
Natalia Peyon (Hong Kong) won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 4,
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 and
Emily Chaisson (Belchertown, Mass.) won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.
