Women's Gymnastics Produces Runner-Up Finish at SCSU Quad With Best Team Score In Three Seasons

New Haven, Conn. – January 17, 2026 – The Springfield College women's gymnastics team produced its best score since 2024 as the Pride finished second of four teams at today's quad hosted by Southern Connecticut State University.

The host Owls won the meet with a 191.375 and was followed by Springfield with a 187.475, Rhode Island College with a 187.350 and Utica University with a 185.850. The last time Springfield eclipsed a higher score than this afternoon came at the 2024 NCGA East Regional Championships.

The balance beam crew guided Springfield today as the Pride had three student-athletes place in the top-six. Ava Kelley (Mashpee, Mass.) recorded a runner-up finish with a 9.725 and was followed by Reagan Charlton (Bentonville, Ark.) in third with a 9.625 and Brooke Ginter (East Berlin, Pa.) in sixth with a 9.550.

Springfield also had a strong showing on the vault with four student-athletes in the top-ten. Nicolette Giogas (Burlington, Mass.) led the Pride with a third place finish with a 9.675 and was followed by Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) in seventh with a 9.600, Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) in eighth with a 9.575 and Kora Donley (New Orleans, La.) in tenth with a 9.550.

Donley and Julia Reer (Cedar Grove, N.J.) were Springfield's top finishers on the floor as Donley produced a mark of 9.650 for a tie for tenth. Just outside the top-ten were Claire Geiger (Independence, Ky.) with a 9.525 and Taylor with a 9.500.

Sydney Bendick (Shirley, N.Y.) produced Springfield's top mark on the uneven bars as she took ninth with a 9.150, while right behind her was Kaplan in 13th with a 9.100.

Springfield will travel to the University of Bridgeport next Saturday for a quad with Brown University, Long Island University and the host Purple Knights.
