Deguire Breaks Division III Pin Record, Kozdra Picks Up 100th Career Win as No. 21 Wrestling Blows Past Bridgeport & Hunter

Hartford, Conn. – January 31, 2026 – Springfield College senior Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) became Division III's all-time pin leader this afternoon as he led the 21st ranked Pride to a pair of dominant dual meet wins over Hunter College and Bridgeport University. Springfield now has a dual meet record this year of 11-1.

Deguire, who today surpassed James Bethel from SUNY Oneonta (2015-19), became the all-time pin leader in Division III history and now has 93 to his name. There have only been five known student-athletes to ever eclipse 100 career pins later this season as the Pride still have four dual meets and the NCAA regional championships.

Ryan Kozdra (Mahwah, N.J.) was also recognized during today's second dual against Hunter as he earned the 100th victory of his collegiate career. Springfield defeated Bridgeport, 52-0, and Hunter, 51-4.

In today's first dual, the Pride blanked Bridgeport by a 52-0 final score. Hunter Sanchez (Lebanon, Conn.)began the day with a 4-1 decision at 125 before back-to-back technical falls at 133 by Alex Oberc (New Milford, Conn.) and at 141 by Eddie Lavoie (Hebron, Conn.) made the team score 13-0. Ty Stewart (Dracut, Mass.) recorded a 15-3 major decision at 149 before Nate Spuhler (Shoreham, N.Y.) used a third period pin at 157 to make it 23-0.

Gabriel Thomasson (Norton, Mass.) rolled past Joshua Alert by technical fall, 21-6, at 165, Deguire stepped up and pinned Cameron White for his 11th pin of the year and 92nd of his career surpassing Bethel's known NCAA Division III mark. Springfield picked up forfeit wins at 184 and 197 before Ben Katz (Medford, N.Y.)capped the dual with a pin at 285 to complete the 52-0 shutout final.

Against Hunter, Springfield won nine of the ten contested bouts and earned six points in eight different matchups. The Pride earned a total of five pins and three forfeits to go along with a 7-3 decision by Sanchez at 125.

Kozdra's 100th career win came as a pin as he took down Anthony Coccarelli in under a minute at 157. Thomasson, Deguire, Myles Leonard (Waldwick, N.J.) and Katz all followed suit with pins of their own. Hunter took its only points of the dual as a major decision at 149.

Springfield is set to Castleton University for a quad meet between the host Spartans, Johnson & Wales and Brockport on Saturday.
