Danbury, Conn. – January 6, 2026 – Three student-athletes from the Springfield College men's gymnastics team were recently named to the 2026 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Gymnasts to Watch list ahead of the season opener on Saturday.
Senior
Owen Carney (Sterling, Mass.) and juniors
Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) and
Kaleb Palacio (Barcliff, Texas) represented Springfield as the ECAC selected three student-athletes from each member institution for the recognition including Army, Navy, Simpson, William & Mary and Greenville.
Carney and Palacio took to the stage at the NCAA National Collegiate Championships a season ago, while Cramer will look to return to the national competition following a season ending injury a year ago. At nationals, Carney finished 26th overall on the high bar, while Palacio ended his sophomore season sixth in the all around competition.
Palacio also became the first student-athlete in program history to win an ECAC title on the floor exercise and the 18th in program history dating back to 1932 to win an individual title at the ECAC Championships.
Meanwhile, Cramer ended his rookie season in 2024 with a historic performance earning NCAA All-America honors following a fifth place finish on the pommel horse. The 2024 ECAC Rookie of the Year and ECAC Specialist of the Year, Cramer became the first student-athlete to become an NCAA All-American since 2014 and wrote his name in program history as prior to 2014, the last time a Springfield College men's gymnast had reached the individual finals of the NCAA Division I Championship was in 1984 when Jeff Coehlo took second on the rings to finish as the national runner up.
Springfield will open its 2026 season on Saturday, January 10 with a dual meet against the Midshipmen of the US Naval Academy at 2:00 pm in Maryland.
