Westfield, Mass. — October 1, 2026 — Springfield College men's golf senior Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Men's Golf Player of the Year after an incredible showing at the MASCAC Championship.

Kumpulanian is the second student-athlete in program history to earn MASCAC Player of the Year accolades as he joins Mike Strong who earned the honor in 2019 when the Pride joined the conference as an affiliate member. Kumpulanian also earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the second all-conference honor of his career as he was named to the All-Conference Second Team and earned MASCAC Rookie of the Year honors in 2024.

The senior opened the championship with an even-par 72 before carding a 73 (+1) in the second round to tie with Daniel Kwon of Marymount who Kumpulanian ultimately beat out in three playoff holes.

Springfield will head to the RPI Invitational on Monday, October 5 at the Shaker Ridge Country Club at 10:00 am.
