Springfield, Mass. - April 9, 2026 - The Springfield College men's tennis team blanked Farmingdale State in a Thursday afternoon matchup on the Appleton Tennis Courts, 7-0.
The Pride improve to 8-5 overall while the Rams drop to 3-5.
Springfield started off strong, taking all three doubles matches as
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden) and
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) won at No. 1 doubles with a score of 6-4,
Austin Prendiville (City Beach, Australia) and
Phakin Thongbookcharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) won 6-1 at No. 2 and
Marc Villanueva Abad (Barcelona, Mexico) and
Ricardo Rodriguez Battaglia (Leon, Mexico) won 6-4 at No. 3.
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and Prendiville both notched wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively due to retirement as Gomulka shutout Danial Zindani winning at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0. Villanuevea Abad got the win at No. 3 by scores of 6-3, 6-4 while
Liam Huppke (Markham, Canada) defeated Michael Lerman by scores of 7-6, 6-2 at No. 4 and Thongbookcharoen won at No. 5 by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0.
Springfield will head to Emerson on Saturday at 2:30 pm for a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup.
