Springfield Finishes 57th in Learfield Directors Cup Standings Marking Best Finish Since 2021-22

Springfield, Mass. – June 22, 2026 – Springfield College Athletics finished 57th nationally in the final overall standings of the 2025-2026 Division III Learfield Directors' Cup. This marks the 17th consecutive year that the Pride finished ranked inside the top-100 schools across the nearly 440 Division III athletic programs from across the country and is the best finish for the department since 2021-2022.

The Learfield Directors' Cup scoring is created by counting a maximum 18 sports, while men's and women's basketball and men's and women's soccer are the four scores that must be counted for each institution. Additionally, up to 14 other scores may be counted, regardless of gender, in the final score. Springfield's 328 points allowed the Pride to be the third ranked program among institutions from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), behind MIT (11th) and Babson (33rd). In total, eight programs represented Springfield on the national stage receiving points for the Pride this year.

Washington University in St. Louis became just the eighth different institution to take home the Learfield Directors' Cup in Division III history, capturing first this year with 1,266.50 overall points, while Tufts took second (1252.50 points), Johns Hopkins took third (1180 points), Emory took fourth (1066 points) and Williams rounded out the top five (1063.75 points).

The 2025-26 year was highlighted by men's volleyball winning its sixth NCAA Division III National Championship title in April on its home court in Blake Arena. Two other team sports reached their respective NCAA Division III National Championship Tournaments including football, which won the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title for the fifth consecutive year, and women's volleyball, which earned an at-large berth to the national tournament for the 11th time under head coach Moira Long.

Springfield's individual sport student-athletes also had success on the national stage as the Pride was represented at the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field National Championships and the Wrestling National Championships.

After winning its first NCAA Division III Region I Championship, six student-athletes headed to Cedar Rapids for the Wrestling National Championships. Highlighting the weekend was Jacob Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.), who secured his third All-America honor in his third different weight class as he finished fourth at 174 pounds.

On the track, Katherine DeFosse (Worcester, Mass.) earned All-America honors in the 60-meter hurdles with a fifth place finish at the Indoor National Championship and All-America accolades in the 100-meter hurdles with a fourth place finish at the Outdoor National Championship setting school records in both events. On the men's side, the Pride sent six student-athletes to the Indoor National Championships as Mike Anderson (Cromwell, Conn.) and Colin Hansen (Ipswich, Mass.) earned Second Team All-America honors in their respective events, while Anderson took home his first career First Team All-America award at the Outdoor National Championships.

Men's gymnastics, which is ineligible to receive points towards Springfield's team score, also competed at the NCAA National Collegiate Championships and qualified as a team for the fourth time in five seasons. At the meet, Peyton Cramer (Grapevine, Texas) was crowned an All-American on the pommel horse with his fourth place finish.

Springfield also finished fourth in the men's and women's presidents cup standings from the NEWMAC this year.
