Exeter, N.H. – April 1, 2009 – The 13th-ranked Bowdoin College men’s lacrosse team scored five times in the second quarter on their way to an eventual 11-6 win over Springfield College in a game played in Exeter, N.H. on Wednesday evening. Springfield drops to 3-4 on the year, while the Polar Bears have won five consecutive games and improve to 7-1 this season.
Tied at one apiece after the opening period, Bowdoin scored five times in the second quarter and didn’t look back. The Polar Bears took advantage of several Springfield penalties as it took a 6-1 lead into the half.
Jake Beebe tallied two goals and added an assist in the loss, while Mike Delia chipped in with a goal and an assist. Springfield held a 27-26 advantage in shots, but it was the Polar Bears three-man up goals in the second quarter that proved to be the difference.
Springfield is back in action on Saturday as it hosts Clark in a Pilgrim League contest on Stagg Field at 3:00 pm.
