Cortland, N.Y. – September 26, 2010 – Sophomore Sara Woodward scored off a long breakaway pass from senior Brenda Semit with 1.7 seconds left in regulation as nationally sixth-ranked and unbeaten Cortland rallied for a 2-1 victory over visiting Springfield College. The Red Dragons improve to 8-0 with the win. Springfield drops to 2-5.
  Springfield, despite being outshot 22-3 in the contest, took a 1-0 lead 17:25 into the game when Liz Hurley knocked in a rebound after a shot by Kelly Gallo was saved by Cortland goalie Ashley Hughes.
 Cortland, trailing for the first time all season, fought back to tie the game with 6:05 left in the game. Off a penalty corner play, senior Brianna Yetsko sent a short pass to Semit, who beat Springfield goalie Alison McCarthy from five yards out in front of the cage.
 The game was apparently heading for overtime with the ball in CortlandÂ's defensive end in the final 30 seconds. Semit, however, sent a long lead pass that set up Woodward for a one-on-one confrontation with McCarthy. Woodward dribbled into the arc and unleashed a shot past McCarthy for the game-winning tally.
 McCarthy finished with eight saves for the Pride, while Hughes stopped one shot for the Red Dragons. In addition to their lopsided advantage in shots, Cortland also earned 18 penalty corners to SpringfieldÂ's three.
The win is the 200th career field hockey victory at Cortland for 13th-year head coach Cynthia Wetmore.
