Field Hockey Honored By NFHCA For Academic Excellence

Colorado Springs, Co. - February 20, 2026 - The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) honored Springfield College's field hockey program for academic excellence in 2025. A total of 25 student-athletes received individual national academic recognition and the Pride was presented with the 2025 National Academic Team Award

The NFHCA National Academic Team Award is bestowed upon programs that have achieved a remarkable team grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the fall semester of the current academic year. Springfield College was one of 78 Division III programs and one of eight schools in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to earn the honor this year.

Twenty-five field hockey student-athletes earned a place on the 2025 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad. The NFHCA National Academic Squad program, sponsored by OPA Winning Teams, honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester, nominated by their NFHCA member coaches.

This year's honorees include Bethie Boone (Holden, Mass.), Kaelin Cerasuolo (Hampden, Mass.), Ava Coppola (Southington, Conn.), Camdyn Despres (Chichester, NH), Alyssa Forget (Bellingham, Mass.), Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.), Sarah Goldstein (Cheshire, Conn.), Emily Gorsuch (Yarmouth Port, Mass.), Natalie Gower (Boonton, N.J.), Audrey Hayes (Holden, Mass.), Maggie Horn (Marlborough, Mass.), Emma Kibbe (Lunenburg, Mass.), Rory McGinley (North Attleboro, Mass.), Clare Moore (New Preston, Conn.), Nicolette Morlock (Rexford, N.Y.), Maddie O'Brien (Franklin, Mass.), Kate O'Connor (Hampden, Mass.), Kaitlyn Parent (Glastonbury, Conn.), Katie Rhodes (Trumbull, Conn.), Sophia Sares (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Samara Skully (East Rochester, N.Y.), Emma Spagnolo (Atlantic Highlands, N.J.), Kristyn Vasselin (Hudson, Mass.), Amber Wolkner (Farmington, Conn.) and Maya Wresien (Wallingford, Conn.).

Of the 25 student-athletes honored this year, 13, including Boone, Coppola, Despres, Hayes, Horn, Kibbe, McGinley, O'Brien, Rhodes, Sares, Skully, Spagnolo and Wresien were recognized as 2025 NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction. This distinguished honor celebrates student-athletes who have exhibited exceptional academic excellence and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year.

Noteworthy is the inclusion of Hayes and Morlock who have appeared on the list for the fourth time showing they have consistently demonstrated outstanding academic achievements throughout their undergraduate journey.

Springfield produced a 13-7 overall record as the program made an appearance in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) semifinal game and notched its most wins since 2017. The defense helped the Pride allow the fourth-fewest goals in the NEWMAC and the least number of goals in program history since 2008.
