Springfield, Mass. – November 2, 2013 -The Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team hosted a tri-meet in the Art Linketter Natatorium on Saturday afternoon with Coast Guard and URI. The Pride toppled URI, 251-38, and was defeated by Coast Guard, 170-126.
Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) had a strong showing the breaststroke events, producing winning times of 1:00.37 in the 100 and 2:14.15 in the 200. He also finished second in the 200 IM in 2:03.36.
Pat Geraghty (Holyoke, Mass.) touched second in the 1,000 free with a time of 10:23.37, and was also the runner up in the 200 fly in 2:01.13. Teammate Jason Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) added second-place points in the 200 free in 1:48.28 and in the 50 free with a 23.00.
On the three-meter board, Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.) won with a score of 306.70, while also claiming the one-meter after tallying a 271.40.
The Pride’s 200 medley relay team of Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.), Normoyle, Geraghty, and Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.) started the meet off with a 1:40.38 to take second.
Next Saturday, the Pride will host MIT in a dual meet at 1:00 pm.
