Springfield, Mass. - May 11, 2026 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-District Men's Swimming & Diving Team.
Christian Butler (North Haven, Conn.) and Matt Quinney (Belchertown, Mass.) were named to the All-District team for the second straight season while Viet-Anh Nguyen (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and John Szucs (Brewster, Mass) earned the honors for the first time in their careers as the Academic All-District® Men's Swimming & Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Butler, a health science major with a 3.73 grade point average, was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Diver of the Year after sweeping both boards to earn NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honors at the championships. He claimed gold on the 1-meter board with a score of 510.65 and the 3-meter board with a score of 530.47. In six attempts at the NEWMAC Championships, Butler has five gold medals, one silver medal and is the three-time NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year. At the NCAA Division III Northeast-North Diving Regional Championships, Butler finished fifth on the 1-meter board with a score of 438.20.
Quinney, a sports biology major with a 3.83 grade point average, wrapped up his career with an NEWMAC All-Conference performance in the 100-breast as he registered a school record time of 54.58 for the silver medal. Ngyuen, a physician assistant studies major with a 3.62 grade point average, and Szucs, a physical therapy major with a 3.86 grade point average, also wrapped up successful careers in the pool during the 2025-26 campaign.
