Springfield, Mass. - March 3, 2026 - Springfield College men's swimming and diving took home yearly awards and All-Conference honors after the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships wrapped up this season.

Christian Butler (North Haven, Conn.) was named the NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year after sweeping both boards and earning NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honors on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Head coach Peter Avdoulos was named the NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year for the sixth consecutive season as senior Matt Quinney (Belchertown, Mass.) earned NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team accolades in the 100-breast. 

Butler was stellar at the NEWMAC Championships as he claimed gold on the 1-meter board with a score of 510.65 and the 3-meter board with a score of 530.47. In six attempts at the NEWMAC Championships, Butler has five gold medals, one silver medal and is the three-time NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year. 

Avdoulos earned his 20th overall honor and sixth straight NEWMAC Men's Diving Coach of the Year accolade. Avdoulos coached junior Butler, the now three-time NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Year, to six weekly awards from the conference office this season and helped him to a spot at the NCAA Division III Northeast-North Diving Regional Championships. All three of his men's divers scored at the NEWMAC Championships as Butler swept both boards and Tyler Khongkham (East Hampton, Conn.) placed third in the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. 

Quinney earned NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team honors after a second place finish in the 100-breast as he clocked 54.58 for the program record as his time finished the season as the 26th fastest in the country.
