Babson Prevails Over Men's Tennis, 9-0

Babson Park, Mass. – March 30, 2013 – The Springfield College men’s tennis team had its three-match winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon after dropping a 9-0 decision at Babson College in its New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener.

Springfield dropped all three doubles points to start the match, with Ben Burnap and Kyle Mersereau putting up the strongest showing at the top spot with a 8-5 defeat.

In singles action, Mersereau came up short at No. 1 despite being the lone match to go three sets as he lost 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, 10-1. Burnap also dropped a tough 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 decision at No. 2, and Joe Giannelli fell 6-2, 7-5 in the third spot.

Springfield will continue league play on Wednesday afternoon when it travels to play Coast Guard at 4:00 pm.
