Springfield, Mass. – October 15, 2025 – The Springfield College men's tennis team capped its fall season with a 3-0 record and a 7-0 non-conference victory over the University of Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.
All three doubles teams secured 6-1 wins at their respective positions as
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden)and
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) played at No. 1,
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) and
Akito Shimamura (Hirono, Japan) played at No. 2 and
Emiliano Montenegro Galarza (Huixquilucan, Mexico) and
Ricardo Rodriguez Battaglia (Leon Mexico) played at No. 3.
Springfield won all six singles matches in straight sets. At the bottom of the ladder, Norin and Galarza quickly made the score 3-0 in favor of the Pride following 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins, respectively at No. 5 and No. 6. The clinching point came from Gomulka, who won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3. Shimamura quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 before Guzman took a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 1 and
Phakin Thongbooncharoen (Bangkok, Thailand) completed the sweep with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4.
Springfield will open its traditional spring season in late February against Trinity (Conn.).
