Springfield, Mass. – April 19, 2014 – The Springfield College menÂ's lacrosse team opened up a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, as it defeated Emerson College, 29-0, on Saturday afternoon at Stagg Field.

With the win, the Pride, who was ranked No. 13 in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Coaches poll, improve to 10-3, as well as an unblemished 4-0 record in the New England WomenÂ's and MenÂ's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). The Lions, fall to 1-10 overall, and 0-4 in conference play.

In the victory, the PrideÂ's 29 goals are the most since 2004, when the Pride defeated Norwich University, 32-5. The Pride’s last shutout was when they defeated Norwich, 23-0 in 2005.

Kevin MacBride (Calhoun, N.Y.) made three stops for the Pride and was credited with the victory, while a combination of Chris Santaniello (West Springfield, Mass.), Doug Sattler (South Hadley, Mass.) and Kevin Ostrom (Cape Cod, Mass.) each saw action and took part in making seven total stops against the Lions. Emerson goalkeeper Jordan Maue (Andover, Mass.) made 17 stops.

Senior midfielder Dom Roberto (Malden, Mass.) struck first for the Pride just 51 seconds into the contest, sparking the high-scoring opening stanza. At the end of the first quarter, senior Ryon Lynch (Frederick, Md.) led the way for the Pride with seven points, including a pair of goals and five assists, while junior Dylan Sheehan (Massapequa, N.Y.) notched three strikes and added three helpers.

Springfield also received goals from junior Reece Ayers (Bryn Athyn, Pa.), Brendan Boss (West Springfield, Mass.), Matt Dalton (Somers, N.Y.) and Joey Raniolo (Yorktown, N.Y.) to cap off the first quarter with a 13-goal lead. The seven goals scored in the second quarter of play was led by Raniolo, Jesse Freedman (Granby, Conn.) and senior Tim Lockrow (Rensselaer, N.Y.) each with a pair of goals, while Kevin Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) also notched his first goal of the season to give the Pride a 20-0 lead at the half.

After Lockrow kick-started the second half of scoring for the Pride with a goal just 54 seconds into the third quarter, three freshman recorded their first-career goals, as Tim Cozens (Ridgefield, Conn.), Dom Abate (Beverly, Mass.) and Nick Paine (Peabody, Mass.) all found the back of the net.

A combination of Alex Laurenza (Ballston Spa, N.Y.), Ben Menard (South Hadley, Mass.), Ty Daugstrup (Rocky River, Ohio) and Scott Rogers (Acton, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the Pride, as Springfield walked off the field as 29-0 victors.

The Pride will be back in action on Wednesday evening, when it will host NEWMAC-foe Clark University at 7 p.m.
