Orlando, Fla. – March 17, 2012 – The Springfield College men’s lacrosse team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon as it toppled Keene State, 11-6, on Saturday afternoon. Dylan Sheehan had the finest game in his young collegiate career as he poured in four goals.
The win lifts Springfield’s record to 4-1 on the year. The Owls fall to 1-3 with the loss.
Springfield, which was ranked 19th in the country this week and handled 8th-ranked Middlebury 14-5 on Wednesday, put together a dominating performance on its Spring Break trip to Florida.
Other than Sheehan, Shane Ferguson netted three first-half goals while Mike Delia dished out three helpers. Both Ryan Murphy and Ryon Lynch each registered a goal and two assists and Eric Balslov added two helpers.
At the face-off “X”, Branden Fernandez was extremely effective, winning 10-of-15 draws. The Pride split the goalkeeping duties, with Robert Maher making seven saves in the opening half and classmate Connor Nash posted 10 saves in the second 30 minutes of play.
The Pride is back in action on Saturday afternoon when it plays hosts to rival Endicott at 3:00 pm. The Gulls were ranked 14th in the country in this week’s USILA National Poll.
