Box Score Springfield, Mass. - October 27, 2015 - A pair of Maggie Kennedy (Clay, N.Y.) first-half goals propelled Springfield College field hockey to a 4-0 win over Salem State on Tuesday night in the Pride's final home game of the 2015 season.
Springfield has now strung together four-consecutive wins to move above .500 at 9-8, while the loss drops the Vikings to 3-13 overall on the year. Springfield outshot Salem State 29-3.
Kennedy, who was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, put Springfield on top with an unassisted goal from 10 yards out just over two minutes into the contest.
Dani Sweet (Charlton, Mass.) found Tori Stollmer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) for a two-goal edge at the midway point of the first half, before Kennedy rocketed home her second goal of the half off an assist from Mikayla Wysocki (Longmeadow, Mass.).
With just two and a half minutes to play in the first half, Springfield extended their lead to 4-0 on an Emily Knobel (North Attleboro, Mass.) goal, her first career goal for the Pride. Kennedy collected the assist.
Timarie Villa (Mashpee, Mass.), Juliana Barrasso (Bayport, N.Y.), and Emmalie Drake (Pittsford, N.Y.) combined for the Pride's seventh shutout of the year.
Springfield wraps up the regular season with a visit to WPI on Saturday, October 31st, for an important league contest.
