Simkewicz Headlines NEWMAC Field Hockey All-Conference Honors in 2025

Marlborough, Mass. - November 12, 2025 - Springfield College first-year Rachel Simkewicz (Westminster, Mass.) headlined the yearly honors this fall from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) as she was named the league's Rookie of the Year.

Simkewicz, the fifth NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in program history and first since 2018, was one of three Springfield College student-athletes named to the NEWMAC Field Hockey All-Conference teams this fall. Simewicz, who was also voted to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team, joined Kyra Ashe (2018), Taylor Conley (2016), Jillian Urtz (2005), and Brittany Vezie (2004) as the other NEWMAC Rookie of the Year's in Springfield field hockey history.

Junior Amber Wolkner (Farmington, Conn.) and first-year Clare Moore (New Preston, Conn.) earned NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team honors this fall for the first yearly honor of their careers. All three student-athletes had a pivotal role in helping the program to its most wins since 2017.

Simkewicz was the top-scoring first-year in the NEWMAC and led the Pride with 16 goals while dishing out four assists for a team-best 36 points. She ranked third in the NEWMAC in goals and fifth in points. She also recorded a hat-trick in an 8-0 win on October 1 against Hartford.

Moore quickly made her presence known as became a go-to on penalty corners scoring seven goals and having four assists on the season. Both Moore and Wolkner had strong offesnsive and defensive showings at the midfield position helping Springfield to allow the fourth-fewest goals in the NEWMAC and the least number of goals in program history since 2008. Wolkner also scored two goals of her own and handed out four assists.
