Men's Lacrosse Eases Past Emerson, 22-5

Boston, Mass. - April 11, 2015 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team scored 13 first-quarter goals and never looked back as it eased past Emerson College, 22-5, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday evening.

The win boosts the Pride's record to 5-7, 2-1 in league play, while Emerson drops to 5-7, 0-3.

16 different players scored at least one goal in Springfield's win.  Scott Rogers (Acton, Mass.) tallied three goals and an assists, while Kevin Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) dished three assists to go along with a goal.   Both Brendan Boss (West Springfield, Mass.) and Jesse Freedman (Granby, Conn.) registered a goal and two assists and Chris Santaniello (West Springfield, Mass.) earned the win between the pipes.

The Pride went 23-for-30 from the face-off "X", with Tyler Heckmann (Brookfield, Conn.) winning 15 of 18 draws.

Springfield, which owned a 50-15 edge in shots in the game, set the tone early, totaling 13 goals on 23 shots in the opening 15 minutes of play.  The Pride scored seven goals in the first 4:56 of the contest, with Dom Abate (Beverly, Mass.) finding the back of the cage twice.

The Pride would take an 18-3 lead into the half and two second-half strikes from Rogers pushed Springfield's lead to 22-3 with just under seven minutes to play.

Springfield will continue conference play on Wednesday evening when it hosts Coast Guard at 7:00 pm.
