Orlando, Fla. - March 18, 2016 - The Springfield College men's tennis team concluded its week-long trip to Florida as it picked up a 7-2 win over the University of Scranton on Friday afternoon.
The Pride had a tremendous week of play, winning three of four matches to even its season record to 3-3.
Springfield swept the doubles competition, led by the No. 2 doubles team of Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan), as they eased their way to an 8-1 win. Kyle Beynor (Prospect, Conn.) and Cameron Grant (Babylon, N.Y.) posted an 8-2 win at the No. 3 spot, while Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) were victories, 8-4, at No. 1.
DeVarennes earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles to lead the Pride attack, while Romaine notched a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2. Honda added a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot, and Beynor chipped in a 6-0, 6-3 triumph at the No. 4 spot.
Springfield will play again on Tuesday, March 22 when it travels to face Rhode Island College for a match starting at 3:30 pm.
