Men's Tennis Has Winning Streak Halted At Trinity

Hartford, Conn. - March 29, 2017 - The Springfield College men's tennis team had its seven-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon when it was defeated by Trinity College, 8-1.

With the loss, Springfield falls to 8-2 on the season.

The Pride's lone point of the afternoon came at the No. 2 doubles spot, as Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) delivered a 9-7 win.  Springfield's unit of Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) were edge at the top doubles spot, 9-7.

Springfield had a pair of singles matches go the distance before the Bantams were ultimately able to prevail.  DeVarennes was edged at the No. 1 singles spot, 4-6, 6-3, 11-9, while Honda was bested at the No. 3 position, 2-6, 6-2, 10-5.

Springfield is scheduled to play again on Friday when it travels to face Curry for a 3:30 pm contest.
