Springfield, Mass. - April 8, 2017 - 17 members of the Springfield College men's lacrosse team recorded as least a point in the Pride's 23-3 victory over Mass. Maritime Academy in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday at Stagg Field.

Springfield improves to 6-2, 2-0 in conference play, while the Bucaneers drop to 4-3, 0-1.

Tom Hurley (Goffstown, N.H.) led all players with seven points on five goals and two assists, while Anthony Zabielski (Gansevoort, N.Y.) added four goals of his own.  JT Kapnis (Salem, Mass.) caused five turnovers and Matthew LaCroix (Westfield, Mass.) dominated the "X", going 13-for-13 with 11 ground balls.  Jake Reynolds (Scituate, Mass.) made five saves and allowed one goal in 38 minutes of action between the pipes, before Cole Finerty (Kensington, N.H.) posted seven saves to close out the contest.

For the game, the Pride held a 58-19 edge in shots, a 58-21 advantage in ground balls, and won 22-of-29 face-offs.  

For the visitors, Michael Dolan (McLean, Va.) made 16 saves in just under 45 minutes of action as he was charged with the losss.  Keaghan Bartley (Richmond, Va.) hadnded out a pair of assists and Bobby McCarthy (Winchester, Mass.) caused three turnovers.

It was a very sloppy start to the game for both teams before the Pride broke through with four goals in the final 6:37 of the opening quarter, including a pair from Ty Daugstrup (Rocky River, Ohio).

Springfield's offense came out clicking to start the second quarter, as the hosts pumped in four goals in the opening 2:56, highlighted by defenseman Chris Cunnington's (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) goal off a great look from Lucas Habich (Little Silver, N.J.).  Springfield went into the half with a 10-0 lead, with Hurley connecting on a man-up strike with 37 seconds left to close out the scoring.

The Pride's lead ballooned to 13-0 when Anthony Febbo (Yonkers, N.Y.) connected with Hurley in transition at the 11:23 mark before the Bucanneers finally broke through off a Ryan McNeill (Burlington, Mass.) unassisted strike with 8:05 on the clock.  Springfield answered with three goals to close out the frame, highlighted by Cameron Glover (Brunswick, Maine) and Bennett Nelin (Setauket, N.Y.) each scoring their first career goals.

Springfield would tack on seven goals in the fourth quarter, with Zabielski and Ben Shea (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) each scoring twice, while Cole Pecora (North Haven, Conn.) and Isaac Chase (Longmeadow, Mass.) each tallied their first career markers. 

The Pride will play its final non-conference game of the regular season when it heads north to face Middlebury on Wednesday for a 5 pm start.
