Box Score Costa Mesa, Calif. - January 18, 2020 - In their first competition of the season, the Springfield College men's volleyball team swept Vanguard at Orange Coast College on Saturday afternoon. The Pride won by the set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 25-14.
Ranked No. 2 in the AVCA Division III Preseason National Poll, Springfield improved to 1-0 on the season.
Matt Lilley (Stony Brook, N.Y.) led the Pride to a .450 team hitting percentage in the victory as he directed a balanced attack. Brennen Brandow (Manorville, N.Y.) turned in 11 kills at a .440 clip, while fellow outside Liam York (Kailua, Hawaii) added seven kills hitting .550 in his collegiate opener. First-year Jarrett Anderson (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in five kills at a .400 hitting percentage in his first match with the Pride. Springfield limited Vanguard to just 12 kills in the contest.
