Box Score Waltham, Mass. - October 30, 2021 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team concluded their regular season on Saturday at Brandeis, dropping a four-set decision by the scores of 25-22, 17-25, 25-15, 26-24.
The Pride, which entered the game ranked second in Region II in the most recent NCAA Division III Regional Rankings, slipped to 20-6, while the Judges moved to 8-17.
Camryn Bancroft (Eastport, N.Y.) had a match-high 17 kills out of the middle at a .375 clip, while Natalie Billet (Commack, N.Y.) turned in 14 digs and 12 kills. Sara Labadorf (Huntersville, N.C.) produced 42 assists and Abigail Wright (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) registered four service aces.
After taking an 11-8 lead in the first after an ace from Billet, Springfield surrendered a 7-0 burst as the Judges seized a 15-11 edge. Springfield would battle back to gain a 21-19 edge, biut Brandeis used a 6-1 burst, including the final four points of the frame to rally for the 25-22 win.
The Pride erupted for 16 kills at a .317 hitting percentage in the second set, as a 7-2 burst capped off from a kill by Elsie Phillips (Granby, Conn.) put the Pride in control at 18-10. Brandeis would get no closer than three points as the Pride pulled away with a 25-17 win.
Brandeis jumped out to an 8-3 advantage in the third and would lead by as many as 11 points in the 25-15 victory. Springfield was poised to force a fifth set, leading 18-11 after back-to-back aces from Wright, and 24-20 on a kill from Ashley Tanner (Manorville, N.Y.), but Brandeis would respond with the final six points of the match to complete the four-set triumph.
