Williamstown, Mass. - November 19, 2021 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team was upended by Williams, 196-98, on Friday evening.

Springfield began the evening with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay as Niko Duarte (Plymouth, Mass.), Antonio Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.), Jonathan Chan (Hong Kong), and James Chan (Hong Kong) posted a 3:37.32.

James Chan would then produce a 10:14.71 in the 1,000 free to pace the Pride's efforts, while his younger brother Jonathan Chan clocked in third in the 200 free in 1:47.06. Duarte took third in the 100 back in 54.35, as did Anastasiades in the 100 breast, after registering a 1:02.40. 

Erik Jensen (Hainesport, N.J.) scored runner-up points in the 200 fly with a 1:57.18 and Daniel Forsythe (East Providence, R.I.) sprinted to a 22.80 in the 50 free. Jonathan Chan then delivered a 49.02 in the 100 free for third place, and James Chan took second in the 200 back after touching in 2:00.02. Forsythe also had the Pride's best time in the 200 breast with a 2:22.66 and Jonathan Chan had his best individual finish of the day with a second-place in the 500 free following a 4:53.09.  Duarte clocked in at 52.62 in the 100 fly and James Chan recorded a 2:02.03 in the 200 IM.

Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) took second in both diving events, totaling a 293.93 in the three-meter and later producing a 294.82 on the one-meter. 

To conclude the night, Forsythe, Jensen, Owen Oldenburg (East Longmeadow, Mass.), and Dominic Marco (Bath, Maine) combined to swim a 1:30.80. 

Springfield will now gear up for the Gompei Invitational hosted by WPI which gets underway on December 4.
