Skidmore Prevails Over Men's Soccer, 2-0

Springfield, Mass. - October 25, 2022 - In its final home match of the 2022 campaign, the Springfield College men's soccer program was upended by Skidmore in non-conference play on Tuesday night. 

The loss dropped Springfield's record to 3-10-2 on the year, while Skidmore improves to 7-3-5 with the victory.  The Pride held a slight 17-15 edge in shots and both teams took six corner kicks. 

Clayton Knibbs (Madison, Conn.) made three saves in the setback, while his counterpart Bobby Stratts stopped a total of nine shots in the win.

Skidmore opened the scoring at the 29:55 mark as Finn Weber scored off a scramble in front to put the Thoroughbreds ahead 1-0. Springfield was unable to capitalize on its opportunities despite putting six shots on the net. The Pride's best chance came off a kick from Matthew Mela (Natick, Mass.) in he 21st minute, but a diving save from Stratts kept the Pride off the board.   

With 16 minutes left to go in the second half, Ethan Slager scored on a low shot to the left of the diving Knibbs to put the game out of reach. The Pride was able to put three shots on net in the frame but each was saved by Stratts to hold off Springfield's comeback chances. 

The Pride will now prepare to take on Babson in its regular-season finale on Saturday.
