Cambridge, Mass. - February 19, 2022 - The Springfield College men's swimming and diving team had another solid day at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Saturday and remain in fourth place.
As a team, Springfield has recorded 480 points on the weekend and sit in fourth among the seven-team field. MIT has outdistanced the field with 1,1127 points, followed by Coast Guard (662), and WPI (582).
Luca Brashear (Amherst, Mass.) was crowned the NEWMAC Champion on the one-meter board as he delivered a winning mark of 486.05. Teammate Kaleb Osborne (Longmeadow, Mass.) took third with a 461.75 to bolster the Pride's efforts on the board.
In the 100 fly, Jonathan Chan (Hong Kong) had the Pride's best mark with 50.93, while James Chan (Hong Kong) had the Pride's top showing in the 200 freestyle after recording a 1:42.22.
Antonio Anastasiades (Wakefield, Mass.) completed the 100 breast in 56.41 and Owen Oldenburg (East Longmeadow, Mass.) totaled a 52.79 in the 100 back to lead Springfield.
The Pride's 200 medley relay team of Oldenburg, Anastasiades, Jonathan Chan, and Luke Zonghetti (Tolland, Conn.) finished in fifth with a 1:34.19 to close out the night.
