Game 1 - Springfield 10, Bates 0
The Pride started hot out of the gates and never looked back with a 10-0 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. The Pride struck for the game's first run in the bottom of the first as Andrew McCarty (Meriden, Conn.) singled and advanced to second on an error before Noah Bleakley (Granby, Mass.) singled to right field to get the scoring underway.
With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Cadin Maynard (Waterford, Conn.) was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a wild pitch to give the Pride two base runners in scoring position. Noah Diamond (Glastonbury, Conn.) then ripped a double down the leftfield line to bring Maynard and Ryan Sorgi (Braintree, Mass.) to the plate. Luke DiMauro (Haddam, Conn.) then singled to score Diamond as Springfield closed out that inning with a 8-0 lead.
Springfield continued to pour it on in the sixth, as Jack Simonetty (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) belted a two run homerun to push the lead to 10-0. The Bobcats looked to get on the scoreboard after getting two baserunners walked but a pop up to Joe Traversa (Pittsfield, Mass.) sealed the win for the Pride.
Brenden Kirck (Hamden, Conn.) and Matthew Robinson (Fairfield, Conn.) put together a stellar outing on the mound for the Pride as the two came together for the complete game no-hitter. Kirck went five perfect innings with six strikeouts and Robinson kept the momentum going with two strong no-hit innings and two strikeouts to match.
Game 2 - Springfield 6, Bates 5
The Pride jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening inning, as a leadoff walk from Traversa resulted in Bleakley connecting on an RBI single before McCarty scored an unearned run off an error and Joe Penkala (Warren, R.I.) produced a RBI single for the game's third run. Bates was able to cut the lead in the top half of the second, as Bryan Gotti doubled to left center and later scored as Ben Gesmondi was caught trying to stretch a double into a single.
The Bobcats added two runs in the third and another in the fourth to level the score at four, but the Pride answered with a run in the bottom half, getting an extra base knock from McCarty and a sacrifce fly RBI from Maynard to put the Pride back on top.
The visitors added a run of their own to start the fifth off a Tyler Attal double that brought Jack Brennan home.
Springfield was able to retake the lead in the bottom of the fifth, as Simonetty ripped a two-out single to complete the scoring in the 6-5 win.
Jack DeGirolamo (Newington, Conn.) was credited with the win in relief as he threw 1.2 innings and struck out three, while Bleakley would pick up the save, striking out two in the final inning of work.
