Springfield, Mass. - March 31, 2022 - The Springfield College baseball program dropped a non-conference game to Dean College, 10-5, at Archie Allen Field on Thursday afternoon.

Springfield snaps its three-game winning streak and drops to 7-11. Dean improves to 2-12. 

Dean ripped two runs in the first to go up 2-0 after a single up the middle scored two for the Bulldogs. In the third, a triple to the fence in right center allowed a run to score for the visitors, before a sacrifice fly gave the Bulldogs a 4-0 lead.

The Pride got on the board in the fourth as Cole Zalegowski (North Haven, Conn.) hit a lead off single, then Noah Bleakley (Granby, Mass.) pierced a double off the wall that cleared the bases for Springfield and made the score 4-2. In the bottom of the fifth, Ivan Hostetler (Tuscon, Ariz.) gave Springfield a lead off double and immediately advanced on a wild pitch, and later, Max Giacco (Meridan, Conn.) ripped a single to load the bases. Dean would give up a walk to bring in another run for Springfield to make it a 4-3 contest. 

Dean responded with a run in the sixth to go back 5-3, but Nicholas Ruffler (New Milford, Conn.) would take the mound and force three-straight outs for Springfield. Springfield look to take the lead in the bottom of the sixth after back-to-back base hits and a sacrifice bunt put runners in scoring position, however, the Bulldogs recorded consecutive outs to move the game to the seventh. 

The Bulldogs posted five runs in the eighth inning to put the score at 10-3 with one inning to go. Springfield responded with a pair of runs in the ninth to dip into the lead, but the eighth-inning burst was too much to overcome.
