Springfield, Mass. - April 13, 2022 - The Springfield College men's tennis was upended by Clark, 6-3, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) at Appleton Courts on Wednesday.
James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) and Sichen Ni (Hefei, Anhui, China) started off doubles play with an 8-3 win at No. 3 and Mike Kendrick (Watervliet, N.Y.) and Zachary Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) combined to prevail by an 8-6 margin at No. 2 to give the Pride a 2-1 edge heading into singles play.
Ni would earn another point for the Pride as he cruised at the No. 4 position with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Clark was able to seal the victory to a pair of three-set victories, as Kendrick was edged at No. 2 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 and Lucas Van Deventer (Ellington, Conn.) dropped a 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 setback at No. 5.
Springfield will return to action on Thursday for a home non-conference tilt with Gordon.
