Gaydos Registers Hat Trick for Field Hockey in 8-1 Triumph Over Albertus Magnus

Box Score

Springfield, Mass. - October 10, 2023 - Springfield College field hockey first-year Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) notched her first collegiate hat trick to lead the Pride to an 8-1 non-conference victory over Albertus Magnus College this evening on Stagg Field.

Springfield, which notched its second win in a row, improved to 5-7 overall, while Albertus Magnus dipped to 1-9 on the season.

In addition to Gaydos' hat trick, graduate student Kaitlin Bardellini (Northfield, N.H.) registered seven points on two goals and three assists in the win, while senior Emma McLaughlin (Norwalk, Conn.), sophomore Sarah Healy (Niantic, Conn.) and junior Camryn Morano (Middleboro, Mass.) all found the back of the cage for the Pride. Sophomore Audrey Hayes (Oxford, Mass.) and first-year Sophia Sares (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also both tallied solo assists for Springfield in the victory. Gabriella Dellacroce was the lone scorer for Albertus Magnus.

McLaughlin put Springfield ahead 1-0 just 4:09 into the game as she finished a pass from Bardellini. Before the first quarter was over, Gaydos recorded two of her three strikes as the Pride led 3-0 after 15 minutes of play. Gayos gathered the ball off a turnover for her first tally before Bardellini found her in the crease for her second goal in a span of less than three minutes.

Bardellini accounted for Springfield's lone goal in the second quarter before Gaydos and Bardellini connected once again to open the third stanza. The graduate student potted her second goal of the game 2:29 later when McLaughlin passed the ball to Bardellini for the 6-0 advantage.

Morano notched Springfield's seventh goal of the night off a feed by Sares with 4:25 remaining in the third before Healy capped the scoring for the Pride midway through the fourth. Both Sares and Healy registered their first collegiate points in the victory.

In the cage, senior Remy Niland (Marshfield, Mass.) made one save and improved to 2-2 on the season for Springfield.

The Pride held a 26-3 advantage in shots and a 2-0 edge in penalty corners.

Springfield will host No. 14 nationally-ranked Amherst College on Thursday, October 12 at 6:30 pm on Stagg Field.
