Box Score Springfield, Mass. - October 18, 2023 - The Springfield College men's soccer team earned a hard fought point in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) standings as the Pride drew even with No. 8 nationally-ranked Babson College, 0-0, on Wednesday evening on Brock-Affleck Field.
The draw pushed Springfield's record to 4-5-5 overall and to 1-2-3 in NEWMAC play, while Babson moved to 9-3-4 overall and 4-0-1 in league play.
Springfield's best chance of the night came in the 51st minute when senior Chris Cruz (Greenwich, Conn.) gathered the ball from inside the 6-yard box and ripped a shot towards net, but Babson keeper Walker White dove to his left to thwart the attempt.
Babson held a 19-7 differential in shots and 13-1 margin in corner kicks. Springfield keeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) made a number of great diving saves for the Pride as he totaled five stops on the night. Springfield's backline held tough the entire match to produce the team's eighth shutout of the season.
Springfield will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 21 at 2:00 pm when the Pride travel to Norton, Mass. to face-off with the Wheaton College Lyons.
