Cambridge, Mass. – October 7, 2023 – The Springfield College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 road final to MIT in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action from Roberts Field this evening.

MIT improved to 6-4-1 overall and to 4-0-0 in NEWMAC play, while Springfield dropped to 4-4-3 on the year and to 1-1-2 in the league standings.

The host Engineers scored both of their goals in the first half of tonight's game as Dilin Melon put MIT up 1-0 at the 9:19 mark before Garrett Robinson finished a pass from Nico Mangiafico at the 32:32 mark for the 2-0 edge.

Springfield put pressure on MIT in the second half looking for its first goal, but Brandon Trent (Smithtown, N.Y.), Ryan Berecz (Fairfield, Conn.) and Carter Gibson (Old Saybrook, Conn.) had their attempts stopped by keeper Hernando Ardila.

Springfield keeper Noah Pote (Washington, Conn.) made a save in the effort tonight for the Pride.

Springfield will return to action on Tuesday, October 10 with a non-conference matchup at Worcester State University.
