Springfield 4, Geneseo 3 (Game One)
Mackenzie Doyle (Glocester, R.I.) produced a pair of hits and drove in a run and Ashley Pugliese (Huntington Station, N.Y.) earned the win as she allowed only two hits and struck out six in seven innings of work.
In a rainy opening inning, Geneseo took advantage of four walks and two wild pitches as they managed to score a pair of runs without registering a hit. Springfield responded with three runs in the second, as a bases-loaded single by Maggie Britt (Bridgeport, Conn.) scored Michaela Ponticello (Gloversville, N.Y.) and Doyle later drew a walk to force in Breannah McCann (San Diego, Calif.). Alli Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) later put the Pride on top, 3-2, as her flyout plated Dana Serricchio (Stamford, Conn.).
With runners on second and third with no outs in the third, Geneseo tied the game up with an infield groundout. However, Doyle led off the sixth with a single and would later score the game-winning win on a fielding error by the Knights.
Springfield 1, Geneseo 0 (Game Two)
Both teams managed just four hits in the second game of the day, with Mackenzie Doyle drawing three walks to go along with her base knock. Gillian Kane (New Canaan, Conn.) was impressive again the circle en route to the victory as she delivered seven strikeouts in the complete game win.
After Doyle earned a leadoff walk and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch to start the game. She was then sacrificed over to third, setting up a Kristen Acocella (Redding, Conn.) sacrifice fly to left field which would account for the game's only run.
Kane would get out of a jam in second with runners on the corners as she was able to pick the runner off of first base to keep the Knights off the scoreboard. The Pride was unable to take advantage of the bases loaded in the fourth, and Kane would strand runners on second and third in the fifth as she got the final two outs of the frame on a strikeout and flyout.
It was an exciting end to the game as Geneseo had a runner on second with one out, only to have Doyle snag a fly ball and double up the runner for a game-ending double play at second.
