DeRosa, Katsetos and Ball Named to NEWMAC All-Conference Teams

Marlborough, Mass. - May 13, 2026 - Three student-athletes from the Springfield College softball team received honors from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWAMC) after an impressive 2026 season. 

Seniors Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Kate Katsetos (Brewster, N.Y.) earned NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honors, while sophomore Haley Ball (Westbrook, Maine) was placed on the NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team. 

This marks DeRosa's fourth consecutive selection to the NEWMAC All-Conference First Team while Katsetos and Ball earned the NEWMAC All-Conference nod for the first time in their collegiate careers as the three were instrumental in helping the Pride to a 27-win season going 14-6 in conference play under second-year head coach Sam Garcia G'25. 

DeRosa played and started in 41 games this season both in the field and in the circle for Springfield. As a pitcher, DeRosa went 17-5 with a 1.73 earned run average in 150.0 innings. The senior pitched 13 complete games including six shutouts and struck out a career-best 128 batters. At the plate, DeRosa batted .453 to go along with 63 hits, nine doubles, four triples, a home run, 42 RBI and scored 27 runs. She wraps up her career as the program's all-time career hits leader with 253 hits while also being third all-time in career runs scored, fourth all-time in career batting average with .422 and fifth all-time in career RBI with 120.

In a season that saw many career highs, Katsetos batted .374 with 49 hits, four doubles, a triple, 27 RBI and 20 runs scored. The first baseman had a .984 fielding percentage with 235 putouts and closed out her career with the Pride with 112 total hits, 70 RBI and a batting average of .328. 

Ball held down the outfield for the Pride, starting in centerfield in all of Springfield's 41 contests as the sophomore had a fielding percentage of .959 with 70 putouts. At the plate, she hit .330 to go along with 35 hits, four doubles, 13 RBI and 18 runs scored.
