Five From Softball Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

Springfield, Mass. – June 17, 2026 – The Springfield College softball program had five student-athletes honored for their academic and athletic excellence by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) as they were all named to the 2026 CSC Academic All-District Softball Team.

Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) earned the award for the third straight season, Kate Katsetos (Brewster, N.Y.) picked up her second recognition and Reilly Hunter (Wallingford, Conn.) and Taylor Falotico (Windsor, Conn.) were both first time honorees. College Sports Communicators recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

DeRosa, an English/secondary education major with a 3.87 grade point average, DeRosa played and started in 41 games this season both in the field and in the circle for Springfield. As a pitcher, DeRosa went 17-5 with a 1.73 earned run average in 150.0 innings. The senior pitched 13 complete games including six shutouts and struck out a career-best 128 batters. At the plate, DeRosa batted .453 to go along with 63 hits, nine doubles, four triples, a home run, 42 RBI and scored 27 runs. She wraps up her career as the program's all-time career hits leader with 253 hits while also being third all-time in career runs scored, fourth all-time in career batting average with .422 and fifth all-time in career RBI with 120.

Pecchia, a physical education major with a 3.83 grade point average, played in 40 games and recorded a batting average of .256 to go along with 30 hits, eight doubles, three home runs and 31 RBI. The senior catcher/designated player wrapped up her career with 167 hits, 42 doubles, six home runs and 115 RBI and played in 165 total games in four seasons on Alden Street.

Katsetos, physical education major with a 3.87 grade point average, Katsetos batted .374 with 49 hits, four doubles, a triple, 27 RBI and 20 runs scored. The first baseman had a .984 fielding percentage with 235 putouts and closed out her career with the Pride with 112 total hits, 70 RBI and a batting average of .328.

Hunter, a sports biology major with a 3.64 grade point average, ranked fifth on the team with a .326 batting average and played in all 41 contests as a junior. She scored a team-high 34 runs and notched a team-high 14 doubles to go along with 45 hits, a triple, a home run and 19 RBI as Springfield's everyday shortstop. She also tallied six stolen bases for the Pride.

Falotico, an exercise science major with a 4.00 grade point average, ranked third on the team with a .358 batting average in 40 games this spring. Falotico added 27 runs, which were second most on the team, as well as 38 hits and five RBI as Springfield's everyday right fielder. Falotico played three seasons on Alden Street after transferring from Bates College and had a career-best senior campaign at Springfield in 2026.

Springfield ended the 2026 season with a record of 27-14 and was the third seed in this year's NEWMAC Championship Tournament. DeRosa and the Pride picked up a pair of conference tournament wins over Coast Guard (1-0) and Wellesley (6-0) and reached the second day of the seven-team championship playoffs.
